Wishing you a very happy and healthy New Year!

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are feeling refreshed for the year ahead. That short spell of cold weather over the festive period has hopefully helped knock back some of the winter bugs, and with a bit of luck we’ll enjoy a few more bright, crisp, cold days before winter finally fades away.

As always, we’d like to start the year with a huge thank you to everyone who has supported, helped, volunteered, organised events, or simply turned up over the last year. Thanks to your continued support, we are delighted to share some fantastic news — the Village Hall and the Surgery are now fully paid off and mortgage‑free!

This is a huge milestone for our village. We’re now starting to build up a “rainy day” fund for essential hall repairs, including work to the guttering and some of the radiators. At the same time, being mortgage‑free gives us the opportunity to invest in new projects for the hall, such as soundproofing and new equipment — and we’re very pleased to say that we’ve recently had Wi‑Fi fitted, which opens up lots of new possibilities for events and hirers.

Bonfire and Fireworks

Saturday 25th October at 6.30pm.

A family event with bar, BBQ and other refreshments along with the children's parade, bonfire and of course our amazing, sponsored fireworks! We are also having a pumpkin and scarecrow competition which are open to all children. Entry is by donation, cash appreciated. Help at the event would also be appreciated from willing villagers. All hands on deck to build the bonfire, Saturday 2pm, and clean up on Sunday at 11am would be welcome.

Annual Jumble Sale

Saturday 21st March at 2pm.

Our first event of the year is the always‑popular Annual Jumble Sale. It’s the perfect oppor-tunity to have a good clear‑out, dust off those cobwebs, and donate any unwanted items — or even re‑homing those Christmas gifts that didn’t quite hit the mark! We’d also be very grateful for a few helping hands for clearing up from around 3:30 PM. The more helpers we have, the quicker we’re all finished.

Quiz Night & Supper

Country Lunches

Country Lunches were started nearly 30 years ago by Ann Kenward, the Vicar’s wife from All Saints, Old Heathfield, and continues today. They meet on alternate Wednesdays at 12 noon at Punnetts Town Village Hall. Their teams of volunteers provide a two course home-cooked lunch, followed by tea or coffee for £5. Good company and a friendly welcome guaranteed and new clients are very welcome. To book call Annabel Williams: 07808 000615 or Julie Langdon: 01435 863690.

For those without their own transport, Age Concern Heathfield run fully accessible buses to the lunches and currently there are some spaces available. A donation of £4 is suggested to help cover costs.

County Lunches are also looking for new volunteers to help with running the lunches. Duties include preparing and cooking food, serving the clients and clearing away. For more information, please contact Annabel or Julie.
